Roman Reigns to Seth Rollins to Dean Ambrose - WWE Championship.

The day all three members of the Shield reigned as WWE Champion. This wasn’t an extension of the Freebird Rule; it was pure chaos at the end of Money in the Bank 2016. Dean Ambrose had won the pay-per-view’s namesake match earlier in the night, seeing off opponents Alberto Del Rio, Cesaro, Chris Jericho, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn in a contest any one of them could have won.

An hour later it was time for Roman Reigns to defend what was still being called the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against former ally and Shield traitor Seth Rollins. Roman Reigns was about to serve a 30 day suspension for violating the WWE’s Wellness Policy, so there was no way he’d be leaving with the gold.

The only thing more shocking than seeing the Architect win the match as clean as a whistle was hearing the Lunatic Fringe’s music play as soon as the bell was rung. As Rollins looked towards the entrance ramp, he was blindsided with a briefcase shot and after Dirty Deeds, we had a third champion in five minutes.

Ambrose had always seemed like the de facto leader of the Shield, being the only member to hold a singles championship during their run as a team, but he was the last of the three to get hold of the most important belt of all.

Let's hope Jon Moxley still remembers this night fondly because us fans do.
