3. Looks Over In-Ring Talent

The WWE as I mentioned is a man's sport. Of course women performers are going to be objectified whether they like it or not. When the company moved away from regular women's matches and began to showcase gimmick matches such as Bra and Panties and Playboy Evening Gown matches, the need for more good-looking and not-so-good wrestling Divas was pushed. There were of course those women who can wrestle and look good at the same time. Trish Stratus was a capable performer, and so was Mickie James, Lita and Victoria. There are many examples of WWE burying women who can hold their own in the ring, but I will just cite one for the purpose of this article. Kelly Kelly was pushed as Women's Champion in lieu of actual wrestlers like Beth Phoenix, who was actually an amateur wrestler. So why was Kelly Kelly the champion even though she can't wrestle to save her life? Some performers are hired just to appear in suggestive storylines: who can forget Candice Michelle and her backstage tryst with Vince McMahon himself? Although it has subsided a bit now, it was still a huge blow to the women's division.
