The story of the student finally rising up to usurp his master was an obvious but equally compelling one to tell between Batista and World Heavyweight Champion Triple H, and fans were heavily invested in the prospect of big Dave holding the big gold belt above his head come the end of WrestleMania 21.
Did the fact that we knew he had to be the victor on the night taint the moment in any way?
Not in the slightest.
Batista had the crowd with him at 'Mania 21 every step of the way and despite the fact that we all knew what was coming, the drama churned out by the two and Triple H's dastardly cheap-shots inspired fans into rallying behind the heroic challenger.
As predictable as it may have been, this formulaic crowning of 'The Animal' still managed to erupt the gleeful audience and successfully lifted him into the main event scene for the rest of his WWE career.
