WWE releasing Zelina Vega shocked fans and wrestlers alike. Prior to being fired, she was looked upon with massive potential as a wrestler and manager. She brought a lot of star power to her clients like Andrade and Angel Garza.

She had only recently been drafted to SmackDown when on November 13th 2020 it was announced by WWE that "WWE has come to terms on the release of Zelina Vega. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors." That same day Zelina tweeted in support of unionising wrestlers.

She was fired as a direct order from Vince McMahon to set an example to talent going forward about thinking twice about disobeying the company’s new policy on monetising themselves outside of WWE on different platforms like Twitch and Cameo. Zelina had gone ahead and opened an OnlyFans account prior to being fired featuring photos and videos of “cosplays, lingerie, swimsuits and more.”
