10 Times WWE Found It Hard To Say Goodbye
6. The Attitude Era
Whether you grew up around it (thus developing a lifelong sense of nostalgia for its scuzzy, uncouth ways), the Attitude Era is undeniably one of the most successful and iconic periods in WWE history.
The Attitude Era shifted the world of wrestling with a fresh take on the product and unforgettable feuds and moments. Steve Austin was on top, merchandise was selling out, and ratings were sky-high.
Over the years, WWE has brought back popular acts from the Attitude Era, such as The Dudley Boyz and the Hardys. There have also been numerous tribute shows as well. Even the WWE Network got rolling by dishing up The Monday Night Wars, which was entirely about the time period.
It's likely The Attitude Era is one thing WWE will never be able to say goodbye to - not entirely. With every new product, such as a video game, WWE still makes sure to load it up with Attitude stars such as The Rock and DX. That these things still spark viewership increases gives WWE little incentive to stop doing this, though the law of diminishing returns is now kicking in, with nostalgia no longer bumping Raw and SmackDown like it used to.
