10 Times WWE Got "The Guy" Wrong

Unlike many others on this list, Ryback never did manage to get his hands on WWE world title gold (although, as he'll never tire in telling you, he definitely should have).

It was clear from the outset that the company had big plans for him (well, nearly from the outset - his stint as Skip Sheffield didn't exactly scream money).

But he never felt entirely convincing as the next Goldberg, and despite being in and around the main event for much of the early 2010s, his appearances in headline matches - with wrestlers we'd sooner see competing with more worthy adversaries - were usually greeted with collective groans.

Also: he seemed to have one or two issues with CM Punk, which didn't help the campaign to get the Straight Edge Superstar - a real 'The Guy' candidate - to stay when things turned sour in 2014.
