What The Main Event Should Have Been: Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart.

Taker vs. Taker was terrible. It was an awful way to end the summer. It made kids want to go back to school early. It was an unsatisfying sub-nine minute match that would cause riots today if it were to end a WWE pay-per-view.

The easy choice was for Hart vs. Hart to end the night, and it’s downright bizarre that Vince McMahon felt otherwise. If Taker had the belt at the time, then it would have been a somewhat fair argument for them to go last, even though the match was bound to be a dud anyway. But Bret Hart had the WWF Championship, and was involved in a deeply personal feud with his brother, and not a fake Bret Hart. To top it off, they fought in a cage! To top it off further, it was one of the best matches in WWE history!

There was simply no way that the battle between the brothers inside of a cage could be topped by two men fighting at half-speed. The tagline for the show was "So Hot It's Scary!" They were wrong. That main event was downright terrifying!

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
