10 Times WWE Purposefully Lied To Sell A PPV
6. Unforgiven 2002 - Heinous Lies, Again
Hands up who bought Unforgiven 2002 for the potential spectacle of Stephanie McMahon being sexually molested against her will?
Shame on both of you. But at least your base lechery went unrewarded.
The show was 'only' fifteen years ago but it seems a world away, as unsolicited 'Hot Lesbian Action' was the promised comeuppance for Stephanie McMahon should her SmackDown team of Billy & Chuck lose to Eric Bischoff's Three Minute Warning. Sleazy-E's lesbian couple in question were drafted in by Raw's GM to compete with the attention garnered by the blue brand's same-sex lovebirds. It was handled with all the good grace you'd probably expect.
Despite their promises, WWE's regrettably homophobic exploitation never made it to PPV, even though Bischoff's thugs emerged victorious. Instead, Steph was forced into an uncomfortable pat down before getting off with a hitherto unseen large lady in a wine-red dress. Oh, and it was Rikishi. Christ.
