10 Times WWE Ripped Up The Script After WrestleMania

3. The Rise Of The Two-Man Power Trip

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin made a career out of being a ruthless and unforgiving redneck who took his adversaries to the limit. But he sure did act like Mother Teresa when he joined forces with Triple H to form the Two-Man Power Trip tag team in 2001, a mere 18 months after the latter tried to kill him. Sure, he was a heel at the time, but it still doesn't justify how a person would align with someone who attempted to run him over with a car.

All this happened after Austin sold himself out to Vince McMahon during his match against The Rock at WrestleMania 17. Since The Rock was about to take a hiatus from WWE to film The Scorpion King movie, WWE had to find another storyline for Austin and had him align with Triple H the Raw after WrestleMania 17, ignoring the fact that he had lost a brutal feud against "The Game" three months earlier.

Austin and Triple H had a decent run as a team and even won the tag team titles while still holding on to the WWE and Intercontinental titles, but it ended after Triple H got sidelined with a torn quad.
