Idea: Once they'd purchased the fragments of their old competition, the WWF decided to finally pull the trigger on an 'Us vs. Them' rivalry for the ages. WCW stars would invade and set up endless amounts of box office success on pay-per-view. At the very least, they'd get one big Invasion show out of it.

How It Was Ruined: Vince McMahon couldn't sign all the star names fans closely identified with the WCW brand, and that ended up costing the Invasion big time. Rather than seei names such as the nWo, Goldberg, Sting and Diamond Dallas Page hit Raw and SmackDown, people watched as the likes of Lance Storm and Hugh Morrus invaded instead.

It was a flop from the start.

Storm and Morrus were talented workers, but they weren't main event players in WCW. By booking them as the first invaders to cross-promote his supposed war, McMahon shot himself in the foot and diluted the credibility of WCW's threat.
