10 Times WWE Ruined Their Own Ideas IMMEDIATELY

5. Giving Bobby Lashley Some Personality

Idea: Impressive physical specimen though he is, Bobby Lashley has always lacked a bit of personality. In 2018, WWE thought they'd remedy that by penning a fanciful backstory that mixed humour with a splash of John Cena's 'Never Give Up' flavour. Surely that'd help people identify with big Bob?

How It Was Ruined: The combination of WWE's horrendous writing (Saturday Night Live this wasn't), Lashley's uncomfortable performances and fan apathy created a contender for worst storyline of the year.

Renee Young's awkward sit-down interview with Lashley was a strange enough start, and things spiralled out of control when Sami Zayn introduced three dudes dressed up as "Bobby's sisters". Jessica, Cathy and Frances were tanking hard enough before Lashley wandered out to put a stop to things and tried to crack some jokes.

The silence coming from the stands was deafening, and it was obvious to everyone but WWE that any attempt to give Bob that much-needed personality was going to fail. He needed someone to talk for him, not some subpar Mad TV bullsh*t.
