10 Times WWE Screwed Up With Seth Rollins
4. World Heavyweight Afterthought
As WWE Champion, Rollins was the workhorse and MVP of the entire company - but from a booking perspective, he suffered. He was made to look even weaker than he was before winning the belt, often losing in non-title matches and struggling in title bouts.
What was arguably the low point for Rollins (and that's including a pinfall at the hands of Joey Mercury) came at Battleground 2015. At the show, Brock Lesnar got his long-awaited title rematch with "The Architect," and fans wondered how Rollins could possibly pull out a win. In the end, he didn't, though the title didn't change.
Lesnar absolutely decimated Rollins, giving him an even more one-sided beating than he did John Cena at SummerSlam the previous year. Nine minutes into the match, Lesnar planted Rollins with an F5 and appeared to have the bout won, but the lights went out. When they turned back on, Undertaker was in the ring, Rollins was gone, and "The Phenom" attacked "The Beast."
Rollins - and his title - never felt as unimportant as they did when they were simply brushed aside without explanation in favor of the real superstars.
