10 Times WWE Stipulations Meant Nothing
5. Once In A Lifetime
Yes, this was technically less a stipulation and more a marketing device, but when you spend so much effort and time pushing something as ‘once in a lifetime’, and then do it again the very next year, it more than qualifies it for this list.
John Cena had been calling out The Rock for quite some time, citing the fact that he had left his fans and the business that made him, in favour of earning a big Hollywood paycheque. Because of course Cena himself would never dream of doing such a thing, right? RIGHT?
Anyways, so when big Dwayne did finally make his return as the Guest Host of WrestleMania XXVII, he immediately ignited his tensions with Big Match John. Their clash would become the deciding factor in Cena’s WWE Championship main event match at 'Mania XXVII and on the following night the aforementioned once in a lifetime encounter was confirmed for the next edition of WrestleMania.
One year went by, the match came about and for the most part lived up to its hype, and then because Cena had lost, they had to do it again the year after so he could get his win back.
