The most popular star in WCW during the company's last few years was Goldberg. Even as the company sank, Goldberg remained popular, and fans always wondered what it would be like if he came to WWE.

Their questions were finally answered two years after WCW closed, when the superstar finally came to Raw. Right off the bat, fans were treated to a dream match, as Goldberg's in-ring debut came against The Rock. Even though the match was sub-par, Goldberg won, kicking off what should have been a successful WWE run.

Instead, the company simply decided not to book him the way he had been booked in WCW - partially because it wasn't how they did things, and partially because there was still bad blood over the fact that "Da Man" was such a success for the competitors. As far as Vince McMahon was concerned, if Goldberg failed in WWE, it would prove that WWE was better than WCW - never mind making money or anything like that.

WWE chose to book Goldberg in longer matches, exposing that his in-ring style wasn't suited for that sort of thing. Despite winning the World Heavyweight Championship from Triple H, he ended up looking bad in the feud more often than he should have. In one particularly infamous angle, Goldust put a blonde wig on Goldberg, making him look like a joke.

Goldberg could have been a huge success in WWE, but his boss didn't want him to be. Acrimony built up on both sides, and when Goldberg's one-year contract was up, he couldn't leave quickly enough.
