10 Times WWE Totally Dropped The Ball On Rusev

6. League Of Nations

Oh, what could have been with League of Nations.

On paper, this faction consisting of Sheamus, Rusev, Wade Barrett and Alberto Del Rio had all the potential in the world to be something special. WWE did something similar in the video game WWE '12 years earlier to rave reviews from players, but that same success unfortunately did not translate to real life.

Poor booking decisions caused the group to lose their credibility almost immediately. In fact, both Barrett and Sheamus have since confirmed in interviews that the sole reason League of Nations was formed was to put over Roman Reigns, and once they served their purpose, they were unceremoniously buried and subsequently broken up.

For Rusev, League of Nations gave him a chance to bounce back from his horrid feud with Dolph Ziggler in the latter half of 2015, but he was mainly used as a punching bag for Reigns during that time and rarely scored any important victories. Additionally, his short-lived rivalry with Ryback that December accomplished nothing.

Rusev was the only one of the four who was actually better off for League of Nations ending as it was no more than a month later that he regained the United States Championship from Kalisto.
