10 Times WWE Tried To Recreate Iconic Duos
9. The Brian Kendrick & Ezekiel Jackson As Shawn Michaels & Diesel
We promise this list won't comprise of just Shawn Michaels and Diesel wannabes, but it was impossible to leave out perhaps the most entertaining attempt, that being The Brian Kendrick and Ezekiel Jackson.
In the Summer of 2008, the team of Brian Kendrick and Paul London were finally split up during the WWE Supplemental Draft, with Kendrick going to SmackDown from RAW. The two had been teaming together since 2005 and were one of the most over tag teams during the mid-2000s despite the two of them not having much character, and ironically they were both very much like the Rockers which consisted of Shawn Michaels and Marty Jannetty.
The draft took place in June and a month later in July Brian Kendrick made his SmackDown debut with new gear, a new attitude and a new bodyguard: the imposing Ezekiel Jackson.
Just like Diesel back in 1993 Jackson was extremely green between the ropes in 2008 and benefited greatly from his partnership with a talented veteran. Although the partnership would only last a year, this year was the most successful of Kendrick's WWE career as he was able to unofficially win the WWE Championship at Unforgiven during the Championship Scramble match, although this reign is unrecognized per the rules.
