10 Times WWE And WCW Screwed Over Their World Champions

9. Sheamus Booked As A Massive Coward

When Sheamus won the WWE Championship for the second time, his run was anything but impressive. However, it's fair to say that he was basically screwed from the very beginning, barely given a chance to prove himself as an able, powerful or legitimate champion. The way he won the championship, his immediate reaction to threats afterwards, and his response to challenges all implied he was a weak coward, who would not hold the belt for long. WWE Champions should be booked strong upon winning the belt, seen as dominant, but they made Sheamus a coward from the very start. After winning the title at Fatal Four Way from interference from The Nexus, Sheamus instead of standing up to the aggressive band of rookies, ran away. This would be an ongoing trend in his reign, as when faced with pretty much any opponent, he'd run away, except Zack Ryder of course. It's natural progression for a top-tier heel to act weak, reliant and cowardly towards the end of their reign, but when it's literally after winning the title, it's a huge display of weakness and fans won't connect to a weakly booked champion.
