10 Totally Wasted Wrestling Gimmicks

There's a few reasons why the fans inside of the Citrus Bowl absolutely lost their minds when The Hardy Boyz iconic theme tune suddenly rumbled through the stadium back at WrestleMania 33. Finally seeing Matt and Jeff Hardy back on WWE television was always going to go down a treat, coupled with the two being thrown into a ladder match on night one.

However, many of those deafening cheers were brought into existence at the thought of seeing Matt finally bring his white hot BROKEN schtick to life in the biggest wrestling promotion on the planet.

Yet, when the former ECW World Champion was eventually given the chance to embrace the "delete!" chants, the whole thing just felt... off. On top of being rebranded as WOKEN Matt Hardy, WWE's attempts to capitalise on the once-successful gimmick and creative masterstroke that was Hardy's Final Deletion didn't quite deliver the same level of all-out chaos and comedy.

All in all, Hardy ended up feeling like a diet version of his once career-revitalising character, and the WWE WOKEN universe was officially closed for business in the wake of Hardy's alliance with another other-worldly entity being abruptly ended...
