10 UFC Events That Changed The Game
3. UFC 243 - Record Attendance
Keeping in with the theme of attendance records, UFC has broken their fair share over the years and in 2019 they may have set the bar to a now unreachable height.
UFC 243 was a historic event for a few reasons.
Marvel Stadium played host to the card and the spectacle that was created by the mammoth venue only heightened the drama going down in the Octagon.
Being the fourth UFC PPV to ever be held in Melbourne, Australia, the main event fight was contested between two of the continent's brightest stars in Middleweight Champion Robert Whittaker and the undefeated Interim belt holder Israel Adesanya. The latter would claim the undisputed title with a devastating second round KO.
Fans were obviously eager to witness the aforementioned Middleweight main event, yet the grand occasion also provided a stage for Dan Hooker to claim a decision victory over Al Iaquinta, and Brad Riddell/Jamie Mullarkey also earned Fight of the Night honours for their enjoyable collision.
Despite the fact that Adesanya was the star who convincingly announced himself on this colossal stage, the night was defined by the 57,127 fans who proved that UFC was more popular than ever before.
