10 UFC Fights That Did Not Go To Plan

7. Randy Couture Beats Tim Sylvia At 43 Years Old (UFC 68)

After getting knocked out by Chuck Liddell in their Light Heavyweight title clash at UFC 57, Randy Couture immediately announced that he would be hanging up his fingerless gloves.

Couture's storied career appeared to have reached its natural conclusion and he could now ride off into the sunset, enjoying his new role as a UFC commentator and popping up on various other TV Shows to fill his time.

That was until the UFC ran out of opponents for then-UFC Heavyweight Champion Tim Sylvia and shockingly announced that Couture would be facing the dominant star next...at 43 years-old!

A 6ft 8" Sylvia was fully expected to squash the returning 6ft 1" Couture in what looked like one of the scariest mismatches in the history of the Heavyweight division.

Incredibly, Couture completely dominated Sylvia at UFC 68 and repeatedly took the Champion down throughout the fight. He even dropped Sylvia with one of the sweetest right hands he'd ever thrown in his life.

Proving that age is quite honestly just a number, Couture eventually became the new UFC Heavyweight Champion and still holds the title of oldest ever UFC Champion.
