10 UFC Stars Who Got Too Cocky

6. Rashad Evans

Rashad Evans is a guy who thankfully cooled off with the arrogance as the losses started to mount up. However, that doesn't mean that he didn't spend a good few years reminding us just how good he thought he was, whilst also showboating his way through epic battles.

Evans had taken care of legends left, right and centre. Chuck Liddell, Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson and Dan Henderson all couldn't get it done against him, but this only succeeded in 'reinforcing the confidence (he) had in himself' - as Evans put it.

Where many other fighters would have felt resistance towards this negative reaction he was receiving in the Octagon, Evans leaned into the feedback and even went as far as to comment that 'it used to upset me, but now I just do my thing.'

It seemed that this cocky attitude - that had won Evans a UFC Light Heavyweight title, lest we forget - had been merely a vehicle to keep him around the gold and set up a fabled title fight with old teammate Jon Jones at UFC 145.

After losing the five round championship bout via decision, Evans sensed that he had to wind it down a little and proceeded to treat his opponents with a little more respect, thereafter.

Evans used to justify his arrogance as something that gave him an edge and with just two wins from his next eight fights post-Jones, it looks as though he had a point.
