1. 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin

When talking about the six-time WWE Champion, it feels weird to not use his full title, and yet 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin wouldn't be the man he is today without the British. Our American readers may see that as blasphemy but the story behind how he got his name would seem to support it.

Steven Anderson became Steve Austin courtesy of Dutch Mantell to avoid confusion with 'Dr Death' Steve Williams, but the reason behind how he got his nickname is unbelievably ridiculous.

'Stone Cold' isn't a reference to how heartless he was between the ropes, or how he liked his beer, but what happens when you leave a cup of tea too long.

The former 'Stunning' Steve Austin was trying to come up with a new epithet for his character when his then-wife Jeannie admonished him for not drinking the hot beverage she'd made for him. Warning him that if Austin didn't drink it soon it'd be "stone cold", she inadvertently inspired one of the greatest characters in all of wrestling and arguably became the catalyst for the Attitude Era.

You're welcome USA, now who fancies a cuppa?
