10 Underrated Stars That WWE Should Never Have Released
4. Drew McIntyre
Hot-shotted to the top of the midcard in August 2009, Andrew 'McIntyre' Galloway was given the official thumbs up by none other than Vince McMahon himself, who told the world he saw a future World Champion in Galloway during an in-ring segment that aired mere weeks after his debut.
'The Chosen One' gimmick didn't set the world on fire, sadly - Galloway would hold on to the Intercontinental Championship for five months, but he was relegated to the lower card shortly afterwards, eventually joining low-ranking jobber stable 3MB, where he spent the final two years of his WWE career before being released in 2014.
It's still difficult to know what on earth WWE were thinking here. Galloway is a large man, with a fantastic look and excellent skills in the ring and on the mic. But it's the Sheamus/Wade Barrett thing all over again: WWE simply isn't using its contracted talent correctly. Certainly Galloway had far more potential than he saw realised in WWE, potential that is being tapped on the independent circuit, as he wrestles stand-out matches all over the world, showing people what WWE is missing out on.
He is now back with WWE and looks to be the top star of NXT moving forward.
