8. Vince McMahon's Million Dollar Mania

Vince McMahon Million Dollar Mania angle

As far as publicity stunts go, Vince McMahon's Million Dollar Mania idea in 2008 was an expensive one for WWE.

Every week, McMahon would waste valuable time on Raw to give away wads of cash to random fans. When Vince struggled to use the phone properly or peered out from over his reading glasses, it hardly made for pulsating television; Million Dollar Mania only mattered to those winning the cash. To everyone else, it was a yawn-fest of epic proportions.

Worse, it was another example of McMahon trying to kill off his on screen character during an era when he was obsessed by the idea. Just as he had with 2007's limousine explosion, Vince tried to stage a stunt that would get the world talking. Much like that limo skit, Million Dollar Mania failed.

In comparison to a car blowing up as he sat inside it, seeing parts of the Raw set bizarrely explode (did the stage crew set C4 or something?) and fall on McMahon was lame. WWE quickly forgot about this guff, and Vince was back on TV the next year.
