10 Unsung Heroes Of WCW

9. Alex Wright

Das Wunderkind! The dancing babyface sensation! That guy that wrestled a bunch of decent matches on Nitro in the mid-90s! Alex Wright was discovered by WCW when the company were doing a tour of his native Germany in 1994. They were impressed with his athleticism and his look. This was 1994, before the era of the 'cool heel' was ushered in proper with the nWo. Wright had 'clean-cut babyface star' written all over him. After a little more training at the Power Plant, Wright was brought up to the main roster and given a good midcard push, feuding with the likes of Jean Paul Levesque (Triple H) and Arn Anderson. A couple of U.S., Cruiserweight and Television Title reigns later and the techno dancing act was starting to grow a little stale. So he was repackaged as Berlyn, ditching the neon tights and blonde hair in favour of a long black trench coat, mohawk and black tights. After that gimmick failed to take off, he reverted back to his dancing ways and formed the Boogie Knights tag team with Disco Inferno, a natural pairing if there ever was one. The team were at least entertaining. Wright's contract was not bought by WWE in March 2001 and he quietly faded into obscurity before opening his own training school in Germany. In May 2014, he was invited to the WWE Performance Centre to act as a guest trainer.
