10 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Fight For The Fallen (Jul 15)

10. Reopening The Women's Division

Hikaru Shida Alex Marvez
AEW

Hikaru Shida's interview with Alex Marvez barely lasted 30 seconds but was a positive inclusion nonetheless, as it signposted a potential new direction for the AEW women's division in these difficult times.

Marvez points out that four of Shida's top five contenders were unable to compete for various reasons. The AEW Women's Champion said she was ready to face anybody, including Nyla Rose, and challenged those who considered themselves passionate and strong enough to come forward and show her.

Though similar to what Cody is doing with the TNT Championship, opening the door makes sense with the likes of Britt Baker, Kris Statlander, and Riho shelved. Shida needs opponents. Rose is an option but AEW has just done that feud, so why not circumvent the rankings for a while, particularly with the likes of NWA's Thunder Rosa teasing crossovers.
