10 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dynamite (Jun 24)

1. Matt Hardy Shows His Age

As a functional bridge to Private Party vs. Santana and Ortiz at Fyter Fest, Santana vs. Matt Hardy was fine - and much of the work was pretty solid. Santana was an effective d*ckhead against a veteran opponent who was supposed to face Sammy Guevara on the night, eventually taking the fall when Hardy countered into a pinfall, though this was comfortably the worst Matt has looked in AEW thus far.

This was the first time when Hardy had truly shown the full extent of his wear and tear. He was extremely rigid while traversing the ring and hunched over for much of the match, suggesting that even AEW's loose schedule is catching to him. The execution wasn't there either, with his offense lacking snap and pop, despite Santana's high-effort performance.

It's ultimately up to the wrestler and his/her doctors to decide when they should and shouldn't wrestle, but this was grim. At least the post-match beatdown allowed Private Party to run down for the save, setting up a Fyter Fest bout that should be several leagues better than this one.
