10 Ups & 2 Downs From Impact Wrestling Rebellion 2020 (Part 1)

1. About Time

Willie Mack is finally a champion in Impact Wrestling, having bested Ace Austin in a thrilling contest to lift the X Division Championship for the first time. This was one of the matches where having no crowd really took something away from the match, but both competitors still gave it their absolute best.

As if often the case, Mack was the real standout performer of the title encounter, busting both a standing shooting star press and a Coast to Coast - two manoeuvres you would never have expected to see from a man of Willie's size. It's worth mentioning 'The One True Ace' did do something quite spectacular in the bout, backflipping out of a Stunner attempt into The Fold, which was truly a sight to behold. A Stunner on the turnbuckles and Six Star Frog Splash sealed the deal for 'Chocolate Thunder', as a new champion was crowned, even if that Stunner did technically crotch Mack on the turnbuckles.

If there was ever anyone more deserving of a huge championship victory on a big stage, it was Willie Mack. For the past few months while tag partner Rich Swann's been on the sidelines with an ankle injury, he's been proving himself time and time again, so it was only a matter of time before Mack tasted championship gold in an Impact Wrestling ring. What made it that extra bit more special was that Swann was there to celebrate in style with his pal.

Or was he there to eye up the new champion?
