10 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Sep 15)
5. Mean Girls
Since they formed an alliance this past spring, Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz haven't really had a proper chance to stand out amongst the other knockouts. Their rivalry with Havok and Nevaeh was fine, and at least got them screentime. However, they needed something far greater to fully establish themselves within the Knockouts division.
Thus, Kiera pinning Taya Valkyrie's shoulders to the mat this week was a massive turnaround for the pair.
Granted, it wasn't a clean win for the 'The Hottest Flame', as Steelz kicked Valkyrie right in the temple, opening the door for a neckbreaker variation from Hogan for the three count, but a win's a win. It's also important to note that Taya was showing a far more intense side to herself than she usually does, coming straight after Kiera from the sound of the opening bell.
While you could be pedantic and class this as a bit of 50/50 booking, seeing as Taya pinned Tasha Steelz last week, you have to remember that Impact are using this as an opportunity to create two new stars in the form of Kiera and Tasha. There's an abundance of top-tier names in the knockouts division right now, but the time will come for them to fall down the card as these younger names become the ones to watch. Perhaps that time is coming sooner than imagined.
