5. Literal ‘King’ Gimmicks

Wrestling fans have been calling for another King Of The Ring pay-per-view since the last one ended on 23 June 2002. More than 20 years on, WWE has tried to placate those demands by booking several KOTR tourneys on TV and other specials since - they've had varying levels of success.

One thing has become abundantly clear though: WWE's literal royal gimmicks are tedious as all hell. The latest example, New Day's Xavier Woods, was only referred to as 'King' for a few months before everyone lost interest and he shed the moniker in favour of returning to his tag roots.

What was the point then? If Triple H fancies recycling the King Of The Ring (or 'Queen's Crown' offshoot) concept in the future, then it's imperative that he makes clear the winner is just the best wrestler in the company, not someone who becomes an delusional overnight royal.

Vince's flimsy-looking Burger King crowns can get straight in the bin, man.
