10 Ways Finn Balor’s Injury Affects WWE
3. Indication Of Who’s Highly-Rated
Despite what the past few slides may suggest, this number
one contender malarkey isn’t solely about ruining existing storylines. On top of the fact that it’ll soon help to
crown a new Universal Champion, it also brings some further benefits.
One such example is the indication that this mini-tournament provides as to who’s rated highly by the company and who’s currently deemed as potential championship-winning-material.
Judging by the results on Monday Night Raw, obviously its Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Big Cass who the company see as the most likely candidates. Which in itself is interesting enough, given that Owens is yet to win a major world title and Cass is yet to win any sort of gold whatsoever.
On top of that, we also saw the likes of Sami Zayn, Neville, Chris Jericho and Rusev in contention for the number one contendership. While some of those names aren’t necessarily surprising, it’s good to see the likes of Neville and Zayn not being totally shunned from the picture.
For the likes of Sheamus and Cesaro though, Balor’s injury has provided another reminder that things aren’t looking quite so rosy for them.
