10 Ways NXT Got Its Groove Back
3. The Strongest Women's Division In North America
Admittedly, it does feel like NXT earned the above accolade by default. AEW's Women's Division has spent five years being the company's weakest link; RAW has given precious little of substance to any women not named Rhea Ripley or Liv Morgan; and the less said about Bayley's recent Championship run on SmackDown, the better.
Yeah, it's safe to say we're a long way from the halcyon days of 2018 when it comes to women's wrestling. So it's a good thing NXT has emerged as the industry's greatest provider in this time of famine.
Roxanne Perez has been superb in and out of the ring as a cocky heel champion, the decision to replace the albatross that was the NXT Women's Tag Team Championship with the Women's North American Championship is already paying dividends, and women are even getting strong storylines outside the title scene. From Toxic Attraction's breakup to Thea Hail becoming the beating heart of Chase U, NXT deserves props for allowing its women the opportunity to tell stories away from "She wants her belt".
Let's put it this way - in NXT, you won't see six women sent out in the death slot for a meaningless tag match. NXT excels at giving its women's division meaningful storylines, and when you combine that with reliably good matches, you've got a recipe for success every other wrestling show in America should be copying from.
