2. The NXT Universe

WWE.comIf the original ECW taught the wrestling world anything, it is that a passionate fan base can enhance the quality of a show exponentially. When that show is already great, it makes it that much more fun to watch. The NXT Universe has become an integral part of the brand. They are instrumental in determining the fate of some of the performers, most notably Bo Dallas and CJ Parker, both of whom were turned heel after their babyface runs failed to inspire the intended reaction. Their chants during match help interject the show with humor and the respect they show the men and women when they deliver a great match helps make said match that much more memorable. Stars such as Sami Zayn, Tyler Breeze, Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady got over far quicker than they may have otherwise thanks to the NXT Universe recognizing their talents and reacting accordingly. Whereas acts like Xavier Woods and Adam Rose have gotten over in NXT, they have faltered in WWE. Fans have been trained to accept only the most serious badasses as potential stars for so long that anytime an original gimmick such as Rose hits the ring, it becomes an excuse for a bathroom break or a trip to the concession stand. Somewhere along the line, fans of the current WWE product forgot how to have fun. They forgot that professional wrestling was built on the premise of spectacle and grandeur as much as it was athleticism and that gimmicks like Rose help put smiles on people's faces and lighten up the general mood of the product after intense and serious blood feuds thrill the audience. NXT understands. They get that Zayn and Breeze can go out and have a four star match at NXT Takeover but they also want to have fun and enjoy themselves. When they do and they reward the performers accordingly, it makes for a great show.
