10 Ways NXT Is Making WWE Look Bad

3. The Treatment Of The Divas

WWE.comWWE.comThe women of NXT are treated with respect. They are treated like real wrestlers, regardless of gender. Their matches are hyped like any other on the bout and their talent has character and personality. The focus is on them as professional wrestlers, not as reality show castmates or magazine cover models and it shows in the reaction they get from the audience. Prior to her callup to the main roster, Paige was as over as any male on the roster, helping her become one of the brand's breakout stars. Recently, Charlotte has become one of the most buzzed-about wrestlers in NXT thanks to her show-stealing performance against Natalya at NXT Takeover. Triple H and management recognizes the potential in the women and pushes them as if they are every bit as capable of stealing the show as, say, Sami Zayn or Tyler Breeze. The WWE Divas are not afforded that luxury. They are treated as a buffer between the more important men's matches. They are merely pretty girls who can do a few moves so they get three minutes on Raw and SmackDown, maybe six if we're talking pay-per-view, to throw a match together. It is disrespectful to them and the work they have put in to get to where they are in their careers. It also shows an audience full of young girls that they can work hard but they will never mean as much as the guys, which is a terrible example to set. In WWE, being part of a crappy reality show is more prestigious than being the Divas champion and that is the biggest insult of all.
