10 Ways The Move To TV Has Ruined WWE NXT
6. Lack Of Babyfaces
If there's one thing NXT loves, it's a heel turn.
In terms of the brand's top-tier talent, The Undisputed Era, Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, Killer Kross (before a shoulder injury sidelined him), and Dakota Kai all fall under the heel banner, the latter three of which have all turned to the dark side since NXT's jump to the USA Network. Granted, Ciampa and Kai work far better as heels anyway (sorry, Johnny), but the fact they're all heels at the same time hurts the brand as a whole.
Simply put, lacking in babyfaces results in them lacking new, innovative feuds.
When comparing that group of talent to the babyface side of things, Finn Bálor, Io Shirai, and recently crowned North American Champion, Damian Priest all technically count, but they're not necessarily full-fledged babyfaces so to speak. They're more anti-heroes, if anything. He may be cheered, but you won't be catching 'The Archer of Infamy' shaking hands with babies.
It feels as if the black and gold brand can happily build up a top-level heel without them ever moving over to either Raw or SmackDown, but as soon as they've created a top babyface (such as new Raw superstar Keith Lee), they move away from Full Sail almost immediately.
