10 Ways To Make WWE SmackDown Important On USA Network
8. Announce Matches In Advance
One of the most obvious ways to increase interest in SmackDown is to hype the show by announcing matches in advance. In a busy world, in which masses and masses of media competes for the attention of audiences, a known quantity is always going to be more attractive than the unknown. SmackDown immediately becomes a more attractive programme if some of the matches and segments are announced ahead of time. WWE has three hours of live television time every Monday night for Raw. It wouldn't hurt to use a small portion of that time to tell viewers why they should tune in again later in the week for SmackDown. Occasionally, WWE does promote one or two SmackDown matches during Raw, but they are tossed aside in passing rather than handed time to sell their importance. WWE also has major presences on every social media platform that could be used very easily to generate hype for SmackDown. The same is true within the show itself. After the opening segment of SmackDown, a couple of minutes should be devoted to running down the rest of the show. If viewers are given a series of reasons to want to watch the rest of the programme, they might be tempted to stay away from the remote control for a while longer. The fact that someone is watching at the beginning of the show is no guarantee that they will still be watching at the end. That's something WWE must address.
