10 Ways WWE Have Already Weakened Sting's Relevance

6. Erosion Of Mystique

A big aspect of Sting€™s appeal during the nineties was the mystique of a lone warrior lurking in the shadows, stalking Hulk Hogan and the nWo. Catching a glimpse of Sting up in the rafters was a thrill to fans, and people would tune in to WCW every week to see when and where Sting would strike next. Instead of introducing Sting to WWE audiences in any number of cool ways, Sting made his first appearances at glorified press conferences. WWE are known for making big splashes at their annual Comic Con International panel, and this year it was the surprise appearance of the biggest star to never step foot in a WWE ring. His next major appearance for WWE was on their WWE 2K15 panel a few months later, alongside Roman Reigns, Cesaro, Sheamus, Hulk Hogan, John Cena and €œStone Cold€ Steve Austin. During both appearances it was strange to see such a mysterious icon as a regular person, and it seriously devalued the mystique surrounding one of the most awe-inspiring wrestlers ever.
