10 Ways WWE Can Make The IC Title White-Hot By WrestleMania 32
7. Only PPVs But Every PPV
This might be considered an odd choice, considering that part of the larger appeal of the midcard belt is that title matches are ratings-bait for free TV, but if I were WWE, I would allow no more free IC matches. As Paul Heyman might say: My champion will not fight for free. With Daniel Bryan as champion and the promise of a lengthy battle, an IC title match could and should be considered a bankable four-star PPV quality match, at least. So why not make them a regular PPV exclusive? Right now, John Cena is currently wrestling a series of open challenges for his US title on RAW, trying to rub a little bit of his shine onto a succession of midcard talent. That's an admirable plan going forward, so save the IC belt for a big shows. WWE always need exclusive reasons for fans to buy the Network. How about this pitch: You want to see Daniel Bryan compose a five-star classic every month? Then cough up your (all together now) 9.99. I'd pay a tenner to watch Daniel Bryan and Luke Harper go twenty minutes. Show me someone who says they wouldn't and I'll show you a damn liar.
