10 Ways WWE Could Have Improved WrestleMania 36
3. Hype Packages
We didn’t know if it would be good but we knew this WrestleMania would be unique, memorable and worth tuning in for. Your writer spent the days leading up to ‘Mania weekend encouraging casual fans, however skeptical, that this would be entertaining, one way or another.
It didn’t matter if they don’t follow the TV because WWE are known for their slick hype packages, giving those one-night-a-year fans the backstory of each match and letting them know who to root for. The slightest of builds can be made compelling with the right sound bites and some editing magic. Even thrown together match ups like Braun Strowman Vs. Goldberg would have benefited from a supercut of the two men squashing guys and looking dominant.
That’s not the only reason hype packages were a no-brainer for this year's “Show of Shows”. One man putting together clips in an editing suite is a perfect social isolating job and the videos would have added a bit of traditional WWE polish to a weird pay-per-view with no fans or atmosphere. WWE’s production team should have been cutting together promos, match clips and music for every single match.
Strange then, how often they decided to simply not bother, with nothing for the women’s tag titles match, the Intercontinental title match and others.
