10 Ways WWE Has Screwed Up Its Women's Division

9. Lana And Tables

For better or worse, one of the most memorable storylines on Raw during the past year has to be Nia Jax repeatedly putting Lana through the announcer’s table.

It started innocently enough, but soon, it became a running gag, complete with a vignette showing each previous table bump, with the announcers hyping it as if it was some venerated streak. They lamented the possibility it might not happen, but inevitably, Nia would put Lana through the desk. For nine weeks, this was the norm.

And what was the payoff? Well, with the Tables, Ladders and Chairs PPV around the corner and Lana teaming with Asuka, the payoff seemed simple: Lana would put Jax through a table to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. It was so simple and easy, and for once, it actually made some sense.

So of course, it never happened. Lana was “injured” and Charlotte Flair replaced her at the PPV (which wasn’t a tables match) and she and Asuka captured the tag titles.

Lana finally got her “revenge” two months later, pushing Nia through a table, but by then, the point was lost. This was perfectly emblematic of the lack of follow-through and logical storytelling, as they had a perfect story scripted and just botched it.
