10 Ways WWE Has Screwed Up Its Women's Division

Flashback to just before the pandemic took hold in the United States. If you took a close look at the Raw women’s division, it looked like Shayna Baszler was about to run roughshod and pry the division from “The Man” Becky Lynch’s year-long grasp.

From being the runner-up in the 2020 Royal Rumble, to eliminating all five competitors in the Elimination Chamber to earn her title shot at WrestleMania 36, Baszler seemed like a can’t-miss killer in the women’s division.

But from there, it was all downhill. Straight downhill.

Baszler lost at Mania and became a second-class citizen on Raw. She would eventually re-emerge and form an odd couple of tag team with Nia Jax (a weird tandem that persists to this day). But whenever the team needs to lose a match, WWE turns to the MMA fighter and record-setting former NXT Women’s Champion, not the bumbling oaf who injures people.

Shayna has become an utter joke, currently feuding with Alexa Bliss and her doll, Lilly. She’s “starring” in bad horror movie scenes, and looking like an absolute goof, nowhere near the killer she once was.

Baszler’s descent seems to coincide with the decline of the women’s division, so it’s very clear that she is a good part of the collateral damage the division has faced.
