10 Ways WWE Screwed Up At SummerSlam 2017

7. Everything About Big Show Vs. Big Cass (Especially Enzo)

If you're looking for the biggest dud of the night, here it is: Big Show vs. Big Cass was absolutely atrocious.

The shark cage stipulation is always contrived, and while last night's execution of it was at least original, it felt like a scene from latter day WCW. With Cass in control, Enzo Amore decided to strip down to his boxer shorts, oil himself up, then slip through the bars. The plan backfired though: Cass booted him in the face, did the same to Show, then put his opponent away with an Empire Elbow.

The match had plenty of other problems too. Cass was completely unengaging when controlling Big Show, despite the "injured hand" story. His offensive spells were so turgid that they had the Brooklyn crowd chanting "boooooring," at one point, and while Show must take a share of the blame himself, let's not forget he had a couple of great matches with Braun Strowman earlier this year. Most of the problems came from the younger man.

It's abundantly clear that WWE have pushed Cass into a position he just isn't ready for. The dumb finish was their biggest screw-up on the night, but at a macro level, his elevation is a grander problem.
