10 Ways WWE Should Book King Of The Ring 2021

4. Fan Voted Match-Ups

WWE’s interest in reviving former themed shows does not stop at Raw Roulette, with the Cyber Sunday concept also apparently in the works for a return.

The fan-voted concept ran for five years in the Ruthless Aggression era between 2004 (then known as Taboo Tuesday) and 2008, with the event offering an interactive experience for fans who would vote on certain aspects of the pay-per-view matches. Match stipulations, diva attires and championship challengers were just some of the things fans could vote on, leading to largely wacky but highly enjoyable events.

The gimmick was discontinued after 2008, with WWE instead incorporating fan interaction voting into Raw for some time. However, perhaps the company could kill two birds with one stone and reinstate Cyber Sunday and King Of The Ring together as part of a fan interactive tournament.

The current WWE television product severely suffers from the creative team’s reluctance to move on from feuds when it is clearly time to. Drawing out programs, to the point where any interest in watching the same two superstars compete has dissipated is not good TV. This issue has exponentially grown in the three-hour Raw era, as the same matches seem to get booked week after week, and fans quickly grow tired of this trope.

If WWE envisions KOTR will boost plummeting TV ratings, then allowing fans to vote on who enters the tournament, and which competitor’s face-off as each round progresses, then it is more likely they will succeed in this endeavour.
