A valid argument against a Raw Roulette themed King Of The Ring tournament, would be that it might be viewed as too carnival for such a traditional event. The premise of randomness and erratic match types that comes with the gimmick, could very well question the integrity of the KOTR title, and the prestige that has been historically associated with the tournament since its inception.

But injecting weapons-based and stipulation matches into the King Of The Ring format does not have to be so arbitrary. Orchestrating the tournament with an extreme flavor, can be just as, if not more effective if booked deliberately.

The company have so many options for stipulations they could add to matchups, opening the door for numerous entertaining possibilities. If the brackets are arranged so that each round offers its own unique gimmick, an even greater sense of survival of the fittest will be linked with the classical elimination tournament.

This could still work, even if the first-round matches are conducted under regular pinfall or submission rules. Weapon-based affairs could become introduced for the quarterfinals, semi-finals and grand final, allowing rarer seen stipulations heighten the importance of matches to complement the simmering stakes as the tournament progresses.

Round one could see regular match-ups, before quarterfinals transitions to Falls Count Anywhere matches, semi-finals fought under Last Man Standing rules, and a Steel Cage match for the final. It tests superstars in different conditions and makes for a KOTR that will definitely stand alone.
