4. The Ascension Look Like Anything Other Than A Joke
The Ascension have always had the odds stacked against them. Despite being booked quite strongly upon their main roster debut, the duo were buried on commentary from day one, and a humiliating beating at the hands of a number of WWE Legends ensured that they would pretty much never be taken seriously by the WWE Universe again. Since then, they've made sporadic appearances and have ironically become the jobbers that they so frequently used to beat when they first came up from NXT. However, there has to be a better use of these two than getting taken out by The Dudley Boyz in a forgettable three minute squash match in the middle of Raw. Why The Cosmic Wasteland gimmick hasn't really been utilised on Raw yet is hard to say, especially as Konnor and Viktor are frequently seen with Stardust on SmackDown. That's a faction which has a lot of potential, but not if The Ascension are used as poorly as this in the meantime. Ultimately, it could be that this tag team is never going to recover from the way they were misused in the past. A win here (or at least a somewhat dominant performance) could have done them the world of good though, setting up what might have been a briefly amusing feud until The Dudleys presumably before Bubba Ray and D-Von take aim at the tag team titles again at TLC next month.
