1. Chris Benoit

On a purely wrestling level, I still rate Chris Benoit as one of the best ever. He is top ten for certain along with the likes of Michaels and Angle. You can't get away from what Benoit is though - a cold blooded killer. For those reasons the WWE have forever deleted Benoit from their history books and avoid using him in retrospective DVD releases where possible. Benoit was booked as the biggest star of the twentieth anniversary of Wrestlemania in 2004, and had one of the greatest matches in WWE history versus HHH and Shawn Michaels at that event. That too has now been admonished from history. Following Benoit's death, if you looked up the championship history on WWE.com you would have just found a blank page. Nowadays his name is featured, but unlike other entries there is no comment or description of the reign. It is a black mark to be forgotten - along with it one of the greatest matches in WWE history. And speaking of Benoit vs HHH vs HBK, the Backlash rematch was almost just as good. Benoit had a long list of excellent WWE matches, all now dead within WWE history.
