During the latter years of WCW's existence as a standalone company, they were obsessed with the idea of the 'Pole' Match. This is often attributed as a Vince Russo idea, and it's hard to argue that point. Throughout Russo's time in WCW, the product featured a glut of these 'On A Pole' encounters. Few of them were received any worse than the one involving Judy Bagwell. Thankfully, Mrs. Bagwell wasn't actually attached to a pole in the corner of the ring. Instead, she was raised on a forklift, with the object being to win the match and then lower her to safety. Clearly, the whole scenario was not a selling point for the New Blood Rising Pay-Per-View in August, 2000. Incredibly, Judy Bagwell wouldn't be the only non-wrestler in the segment. Buff Bagwell went up against Kanyon in the bout, with the winner supposedly doing what they liked with Judy. David Arquette even made an appearance, trying to aid Kanyon to victory. To the delight of almost nobody, Buff emerged victorious. Meanwhile, wrestling fans worldwide wondered who WCW were attempting to entertain with this nonsense.
