10 WCW Moments That Weren’t Supposed To Happen

If you didn't see this one coming then you must be wearing a bedazzled Stormtrooper helmet.

Fred Ottman was, but that's not why he fell arse over tit through a partition wall at Clash Of The Champions XXIV on 11 August 1993. The Shockmaster's grand debut was a massive flop because of that helmet, the crappy cape and the fact that somebody had nailed a big plank of wood over the exploding gap in the aforementioned wall following afternoon rehearsals.

Literally falling into WCW life, Ottman regained composure enough to put the glittery Star Wars prop back on his head and mime for Ole Anderson's cheesy voiceover as the likes of Ric Flair laughed and Davey Boy Smith exclaimed, "he fell right on his fooking arse". What a way to kickstart your bold new gimmick.

The Shockmaster was eventually turned into a comedy gimmick (WCW had no choice, to be fair) and any hopes of a main event run were shot. Not to be too curt, but the character was crap anyway. A Stormtrooper helmet with hundreds and thousands on it did not a headline attraction make.
