10 WCW Stars From The 2000s You Totally Don't Remember

1. The Machine

The Maestro WCW
WWE

The gigantic Emory Hale only wrestled one match under the guise of 'The Machine' in WCW. A massive man, the heavily-muscled frame of Hale meant he was a perfect pet project for the company; Hale was even managed by 'The Mouth Of The South' Jimmy Hart at one point, although he'd never quite cut it for any serious length of time.

On the 2 February 2000 edition of WCW Thunder, Hale went under a mask as the mysterious Machine to face Diamond Dallas Page. The match has become infamous to those who closely followed WCW, largely because Hale comedically jumped from the top turnbuckle onto the ropes for no apparent reason.

DDP had smashed into the ropes directly opposite The Machine, apparently causing the big man to lose his footing and dramatically leap from safety onto the top strand. Even Page couldn't stop himself from smiling; the spot looked woeful and would come to define Hale's time playing the character.

Post-loss, The Machine was never seen again in WCW, making the entire exercise a pointless one.
