10 WCW Stars Who Would Have Won Money In The Bank

6. 1996 - Scott Hall

1996 was a huge year for WCW, and a humongous year for professional wrestling. It was in 1996 that Scott Hall and Kevin Nash jumped ship to WCW, before Hulk Hogan turned heel and the New World Order was formed. It was the year that the Monday Night Wars swung in favour of Eric Bischoff and co.

As such, it is almost unthinkable that anyone outside of the nWo could have won the 1996 briefcase. The Black and White was booked so incredibly strong over those first few months, this match would have belonged to them. Scott Hall would have been the best bet to win the briefcase, and in the months that followed the briefcase would have been edited and abused in the traditional nWo manner.

Six other men would be needed to join Hall in the match, and fellow nWo member Syxx would have been one. The former 1-2-3 Kid and future X-Pac would have entered as an insurance policy, to keep fellow competitors Konnan, Chris Benoit, Steve Regal and Eddy Guerrero at bay.

That gives an immensely strong line-up for the match, in great contrast to the lacking 1995 equivalent. What a difference a year makes.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
